A thought-leadership platform. Not a product sales portal.
Rahul Meena Mishra is the author of Insuring Bharat: Trust, Technology and the Last Mile. His work focuses on how India can build deeper insurance access through trust, technology, phygital distribution, MSME protection and practical field execution.
19+ years in the insurance industry, Rahul has worked across the realities that shape the Indian insurance market: distribution, broker networks, insurer partnerships, POSP-led channels, claim confidence, regulatory change, MSME risk protection and Bharat-focused growth.
His core belief is simple: insurance is not only a financial product. It is protection infrastructure.
A Bharat-First Insurance View
Rahul’s work is grounded in the belief that India’s insurance challenge cannot be solved only from metro markets or digital dashboards.
Bharat customers often need explanation before adoption. They need to know why insurance matters, what is covered, what is excluded, what happens during a claim and who will support them when loss happens.
This makes distribution more than a sales function. At its best, distribution becomes trust infrastructure.
From Policy Selling to Protection Thinking
Rahul’s insurance philosophy moves away from policy pushing and towards protection advisory.
The central question is not “How do we sell more policies?” The better question is: “What financial shock can damage this family, worker, shopkeeper, MSME or community, and how can insurance reduce that damage?”
This protection-first view runs through his work on Insuring Bharat, MSME risk protection and insurance distribution models.
MSME Protection and India’s Growth
Rahul’s MSME insurance protection work focuses on a critical gap in India’s economic architecture. MSMEs create jobs, support local economies, drive exports, enable supply chains and provide livelihood resilience. But many remain underinsured or wrongly insured.
A fire, flood, machinery breakdown, liability claim or business interruption event can destroy years of work. When an MSME is uninsured, the loss does not stay inside the business. It can become a loan default, job loss, migration trigger, supplier disruption and fiscal burden.
Rahul argues that MSME insurance must be seen as business continuity infrastructure, not as lender paperwork or optional compliance.
Trust, Claims and the Last Mile
A recurring theme in Rahul’s writing is that claims are the moment of truth. Insurance trust is not built by brochures. It is built when the customer receives clear guidance, fair process and support at the time of loss.
For Bharat, the last mile is not just a channel. It is the place where trust is either built or broken. This is why trained advisors, brokers, POSPs, local institutions, cooperatives, banks, business associations and digital rails all have a role to play.
